Nature Of Art III – Rain Dance
Open Call for Artists
to call in turn with their work,
the water to descend to earth,
in Rodini Park Rhodes,
on a 2-3 km route in nature,
1 to 10 September.
<< Anything, if you call it, there is a chance that it might come. >>
Rain Dance historically has been a prayer call for water to descend to the ground, to make the soil suitable and the crops to thrive.
Rodini is a 2400-year-old park, a teaching area, an ambulatory school of philosophy and rhetoric in the late Hellenistic and Roman times, with scattered nymphaea and Hellenistic funerary monuments. Nowadays, a rich habitat, a promenade, a city’s lung, and the past three years, a place of artistic meetings, dialogues and actions.
A combination of things: an old ritual practice, a place of History, Nature, all seen through the eyes of contemporary artists.
We approach “Rain Dance” at the same time, with a symbolic character, as anything that anyone wishes to come, and for which s/he is willing to “dance” the dance of the call. This year’s theme is also a metaphor of the call to call, with the Nature of Art inviting artists to call in turn whatever each one wants.
